Originals
When I talk about original illustrations, I mean works that have not been modified with any software, so that their final result is different or more attractive.
On many occasions we have to make different decisions. Sometimes it may be what color to choose, or that the shapes are smaller or larger, what texture to give to that specific area, the situations can be endless. But sometimes we don’t take the best option. By not being able to erase or go back, it means that you have to continue with the project and improve it with certain tools, whereas if it were a digital illustration we would have no problem being able to try several options before leaving the most appropriate one.
As it is not a digital work, it means that We will never see two identical works no matter how much we carry out the creative process in the same way. Not the same shape, not the same color tone. For this reason, each illustration becomes a small treasure that we can call a Work of Art. And this also influences the price. It is not the same to press a button and obtain as many copies as desired of an illustration, than to have two “equal” works, we have to spend a lot of time and material.
Sometimes the original illustrations have marks, and even small stains on the paper that have been made to fit the illustration, or by mistake. But these small marks, in my point of view, instead of making the work worse, they help to understand the work process until the project is completed. They tell us the story of illustration. Getting that the original document cannot be plagiarized in any way by anyone.
It is clear to me, I prefer originals, better paper quality, a personal project for each person. In addition, the artist tells us a different story in each creative process. Both his state of mind, as well as the affection that the artist puts in each piece of paper he works on, are an added value.
